Ethos and Values
Our Mission, Ethos and Values
At the heart of St Peter and St Paul Catholic Primary Academy is our mission:
“With Jesus at the heart, we learn, love and serve.”
Our mission expresses who we are as a Catholic school and the community we aspire to be. Jesus is at the centre of our relationships, our learning and our service to others. It is not simply a statement: it is the foundation of our Catholic life and mission and is reflected in the choices, relationships and actions of our whole school community.
We believe that every person is created in the image and likeness of God, with unique gifts and talents. We are therefore committed to ensuring that every child is known, heard, seen and loved, and is given the opportunity to flourish academically, spiritually, socially and personally.
LOVE
Love God and one another as Jesus loves us.
“Love one another as I have loved you.”
John 13:34
Love is at the heart of the Gospel and the foundation of our school community. We encourage our children to show kindness, compassion, forgiveness and care, recognising God’s love in themselves and in others.
RESPECT
Value every person as created and loved by God.
“Do to others as you would have them do to you.”
Luke 6:31
Respect begins with recognising the dignity and worth of every individual. We teach our pupils to listen to others, value difference, use their voices responsibly and treat everyone with fairness and dignity.
SERVICE
Use our gifts to help others and work for the Common Good.
“Serve one another humbly in love.”
Galatians 5:13
We encourage every child to recognise that they have God-given gifts and talents which can be used to make a positive difference. Through service, leadership and action, our pupils learn to look beyond themselves and consider the needs of others.
Living Our Mission
Our mission and values are woven through the life of the school: our curriculum, prayer and liturgy, relationships, behaviour, pastoral care, pupil leadership, service and our work for the Common Good. We want pupils to understand the mission, speak confidently about what it means and, most importantly, help to shape and live it through their everyday actions.
“We, though many, are one body in Christ and individually members one of another. We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us.”
Romans 12:5–6
These words remind us that every member of our community belongs, every person has gifts to offer and we are called to use those gifts in the service of one another.
“With Jesus at the heart, we learn, love and serve.”
