St Peter and St Paul's

St Peter and St Paul Catholic Primary Academy

Admissions

On the advice of the Education Commission of the Archdiocese of Southwark the Governing Body of St Peter and St Paul  Catholic Primary Academy has agreed the following statement in order to clarify how its faith-based oversubscription criteria will be interpreted whilst churches are closed or attendance at church is not possible due to COVID19. This statement has been shared widely with parishes in order to ensure that determinations made by parish priests concerning regular practice of the faith are being made on a consistent basis.

The suspension of the obligation to attend Sunday Mass was announced on 18th March 2020 by Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales. If a parent/carer attended Mass at a particular parish (or parishes) prior to 18th March 2020 then they will be considered to have attended Mass in that parish (or parishes) regularly since that time. This will remain the case until the Sunday obligation is reintroduced by the Bishops.

Online applications for Bromley residents for places in September 2022, are available at http://www.eadmissions.org.uk/

Applications can be made from 1 September 2021.

The closing date for applications for places in September 2022 is Saturday 15 January 2022.

National offer day - Tuesday 19 April 2022.

Children will be admitted to our Reception Class in line with our Admissions Policy. Up to 30 pupils are admitted each year via the London Borough of Bromley Co-ordinated Admissions Process. This process ensures that all children have equal and fair access to a school place without reference to ability, aptitude, or additional educational need (including SEND).

A Supplementary Information Form should be completed and returned to the Academy with the appropriate documentation at the same time an application is made to Bromley.

Parents whose applications for places are unsuccessful may appeal to an Independent Appeal Panel set up in accordance with section 85(3) of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998. Appeals must be made in writing and must set out the reasons on which the appeal is made. Appeals should be made to the Admissions Panel at the school address. Parents/Carers have the right to make oral representations to the Appeal Panel. Infant classes are restricted by the legislation to 30 children. Parents should be aware that an appeal against refusal of a place in an infant class may only succeed if it can be demonstrated that:

  • The admission of additional children would not breach the infant class size limit; or
  • The admission arrangements did not comply with admissions law or had not been correctly and impartially applied, and the child would have been offered a place if the arrangements had complied or had been correctly and impartially applied; or
  • The panel decides that the decision to refuse admission was not one which a reasonable admission authority would have made in the circumstances of the case.

Appeals Timetable 2022:

3rd May 2022 Deadline for accepting or declining the offer of a place made on 19th April 2022
27th May 2022 Deadline for lodging an Appeal against the decision not to offer a place at St Peter and St Paul Catholic Primary Academy.
June/July 2022 Appeals will be heard up to 40 school days after the deadline. Appellants will receive at least 10 school days notice of their appeal hearing. Decision letters will be sent within 5 school days of the hearing wherever possible.
