LO: : To identify how the grammatical patterns in a sentence indicate its function as a statement, question, exclamation or command I can spot statements, exclamations and commands Re-read the whole text. Discuss the idea that The only true failure can come if you quit. Sorting Sentences Distribute, on cards, sentences in three different grammatical forms - statements, commands and exclamations that pertain to Rosie (see resource attached to the end of the sequence). Children read their sentence out-loud and class work together to sort into 3 large hoops (hula hoops from the PE cupboard work well for this) that have been labelled: statement, exclamation or command.
