Good Morning Acorns,

It has been wonderful teaching all of you this year.  Today is an exciting day because it is transition day!  This is when you get to meet your new teacher.  We are sure that your new teacher will think you are absolutely fabulous.

Recently we have been thinking about questions.  Can you think of a question that you would like to ask your new teacher?  Your question might be, What is your favourite colour?  You might want to find out about whether or not she/he has any pets at home.  Write your question in your home learning book.  Remember to form your letters carefully.  Use your phonics to help spell new words.  A question should have a question mark at the end of the sentence.

In Maths today, we would like you to consolidate your understanding of subtraction.  Please share the ‘Subtraction’ PowerPoint with your grown-up at home.

This week we have been learning about seahorses and crabs.  Watch the following video about crabs.  This is the link you will need: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsB2UNLF8b4   We would like you to look at the ‘Crabs’ PowerPoint again.

Now we will play a ‘Quick Question’ game.  Your grown-up will ask you a question about crabs from the information in the PowerPoint.  You must answer as quickly as you can.  You will need to see how many questions you can get right in 1 minute so your grown-up will need to use a watch or clock to time you.  Then swap roles with your grown-up.  How many questions can they get right in 1 minute?  Make sure you ask them a question based on the information we have just learnt.  We hope you have fun with this activity!

Previously, we have thought about mosaic art.  You will be participating in another mosaic art challenge!  On Purple Mash, can you create a mosaic fish?  Think carefully about which colours you will use.

If you would like to continue to practise your cursive handwriting, we have attached the 'Cursive Letter Formation' PowerPoint for you to use at home.  The magic pencil in the PowerPoint shows you how to form each letter correctly.

Let’s finish the day with a story.  It is all about a turtle called Shelley. This is the link you will need: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tChOozhjBr0   This is a really good story because you can read along as well.  See if you can recognise the different keywords in the story.

We hope you have a wonderful day.  Keep smiling!
