Tuesday 7th July 2020

Good Morning Acorns,

We hope you have enjoyed learning about the amazing clownfish yesterday. Today we will be continuing with our sea journey.

Let’s begin by having a phonic lesson. We will be learning the ‘ay’ sound in phonics and looking at different words containing this sound. This is the link you will need: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WL QHxJnFQ&list=PLPVrkr0oJX1sBGLJU2hNbPE2neuhezWSu Explore different words containing the ‘ay’ sound. For example, day, may and play. Can you write 5 words in your home learning book that contain the ‘ay’ sound? Remember to form your letters carefully.

In Literacy we will be learning about seals. You may have seen pictures of seals before. We would like you to watch a video about seals. This is the link you will need: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uiSN_fORzyg Did you learn something new? What are seals? Now share the ‘Seals’ PowerPoint with your grown-up. Then ask your grown-up to read the statements attached about seals. You will need to decide whether the statement is true or false. Listen carefully as your grown-up reads out each statement and you will need to write in your home learning book if the statement is true or false.

In Maths today we will be reciting numbers forwards to 20 and then back to 0. Please use the number cards you have used in previous activities. Place numbers 0-20 in a line on the floor or peg large number cards 1−20 in order along a washing line. Count along the line to 20 as you point to each number. Repeat this a few times. Then count back from 20-0. We have attached the clownfish number cards for you to use at home if you would like to.

Afterwards, ask your grown-up to choose three numbers from the number line. For example, 8, 12 and 17. Can you recognise these numbers? Can you order the numbers from smallest to largest? Look closely at your numbers. How do you know this is the largest or biggest number? Look at how it is further down the number line compared to the other numbers. Then write the numbers in your home learning book. Ask your grown-up to choose three more numbers and repeat the task.

Read the story called ‘Four Friends’ with your grown-up. This is the link you will need: https://www.starfall.com/h/ir-folk/4friends/?sn=ir-folk--im-reading
We would like you to think about a time when you have worked as a team to help others. How did this make you feel? Draw a picture to show a time when you have worked together with your friends. For example, you may have been doing a craft project at school and you needed to work together. You may have worked together as a team during a sporting activity. During PE lessons, there are a lot of opportunities to work together as a team. After you have drawn your picture, can you write a word underneath to describe how you felt? For example, happy or proud.

Reflect on our current sea topic. Which animal have we been learning about today? Watch this video about different sea animals. This is the link you will need: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOJkvhSpBiQ It is very interesting with lots of different facts about different sea animals. On Purple Mash, can you paint a picture of a seal or another sea animal? We were learning about clownfish yesterday so you may decide to paint a picture of a clownfish.

We hope you have a great day. Keep smiling!
