Good Morning Acorns,

We hope you had a wonderful weekend and you’re ready for a new week of learning. Thank you for all your hard work.

Today is a special day because it is ‘The Feast of Saint Peter and Saint Paul’. Our Academy is named after Saint Peter and Saint Paul.  Please begin with a short Liturgy at home.  We have attached a prayer and some bidding prayers for you to use at home.  You may want to listen to some peaceful, relaxing music for a couple of minutes before beginning your prayer.  This is a link you may want to use: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETnLewwT2qQ

Then share the PowerPoint about Saint Peter and Saint Paul with your grown-up and discuss. To celebrate this day, we will be doing some fun activities.

Peter was a fisherman on the Sea of Galilee. In our current topic about the sea, we have seen many fish. Peter must have seen lots of different types of fish in the sea. Imagine you are Peter fishing and you have caught a fish. What does it look like? Create your own fish. Depending on the resources you have at home, you may want to draw your fish with different coloured chalk or use felt-tip pens. Alternatively, you may want to paint a fish or create a fish collage.

Peter learnt from Jesus about how to live a good Christian life and he helped others to change their lives too. With your grown-up, think about what it means to ‘live a good Christian life’. How can we live like Jesus? What can we do? Draw a picture to show how you can live a good Christian life.

In Literacy, we will be talking about Saint Peter and Saint Paul. Paul travelled through Israel, Syria, Turkey and Greece, teaching people about the life of Jesus. What would you tell people about Jesus? How would you describe Jesus?  Write a sentence in your home learning book.  For example, Jesus is patient and kind. Remember to use your phonics to help spell new words. Please form your letters carefully.

In Maths, we will be learning to show all the ways of making 5 and begin to know pairs to 5 by heart. You will need number cards from 0 to 5. You can use the number cards you have made from previous activities. On Active Learn, we have allocated some number cards if you would prefer to use these.

Show a total of five fingers, some on one hand and some on the other. What addition can we write to go with the way you are showing five? Can you write this addition number sentence in your home learning book? Think about how some people might show 2 + 3 = 5: the same pair of numbers in a different order.

Think about different ways of making five and write the matching addition number sentences in your home learning book. Grown-ups please encourage your child to think about how we can show zero on one hand and five on the other, 5 + 0 = 5 and 0 + 5 = 5.

This afternoon, we will be continuing to think about Saint Peter and Saint Paul. We have attached the ‘Siyahambe’ hymn for you to practise singing at home. We will be singing this song at school this afternoon outside. If you want to sing the song in your garden or outdoor space that would be wonderful.

On Purple Mash, can you paint a picture of Saint Peter and Saint Paul? We have attached two pictures of Saint Peter and Saint Paul.  At St Peter and St Paul Catholic Primary Academy, we usually have a special meal at school. To celebrate the Feast of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, can you design a delicious meal on Purple Mash?

We hope you have a great day Acorns. Keep smiling!
