Wednesday 3rd June 2020

Good Morning Acorns,

We hope you had fun yesterday creating your fish collage. Well done for working so hard at home. We are very proud of the Acorn Class.

In Literacy, we will be learning to write a sentence by using a capital letter, finger spaces and a full stop. First you will need to watch the video about rock pools with your grown-up. This is the link you will need: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0lb3f750z0  Each time you see a different creature or plant, pause the video and think about if you have ever seen one of these. At the end of the video, discuss what sort of things you might find at the seaside. Discuss the creatures that you might find in the sand and in rock pools. Draw and write a sentence about a rock pool creature in your home learning book.

Now little mathematicians, are you ready for some super counting? In Maths, we will be thinking about odd and even numbers. If the number ends in 1, 3, 5, 7 or 9 it is odd, and if it ends in 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8 it is even. We are now going to be counting to 100 by using whisper counting. We whisper the odd numbers. Whisper count to 100. Use your finger to point to the number on the hundred square as you count. Please see the hundred square attached. Then ask your grown-up to point at random numbers on the hundred square. See if you can say whether the number is odd or even. Happy counting!

In your first topic activity, you will be exploring different types of talents. Some people are very good artists and they have a special talent. Others may be able to dance or play a musical instrument. Is there a particular activity that you think you are really good at? Can you describe yourself positively? Can you talk about your abilities? Do you have a particular talent? Share the PowerPoint attached with your grown-up and discuss. Draw a picture showing your particular talent in your home learning book. For example, you may like painting or you may be really good at gymnastics.

Continuing with our sea topic, we would like you to create your own rock pool scene on Purple Mash. Can you name different rock pool creatures? We look forward to seeing your wonderful pictures.

We hope you have a great day.  Keep up the good work!
