Good Morning Acorns,

We hope you enjoyed the puzzle challenge yesterday.  Which puzzle was your favourite?  We have some new activities for you to complete at home today.

In Literacy, we would like you to practise writing keywords in a sentence.  There is a PowerPoint attached containing some simple keywords.  See if you can read each word by sight.  Then with your grown-up, look at one word.  Can you make up a sentence containing that word?  For example, If the keyword is 'can', your sentence might be, I can jump or I can see a dog.  It is important for you to be able to say the sentence verbally.  How many words does your sentence have?  Check by using your fingers.  Now try and write this sentence in your home learning book.  If you prefer to write your sentence on paper and then stick it into your book, that is fine.  After you have written your first sentence, repeat this task with the other words in the PowerPoint.  Please remember to write neatly and do not rush.  It is important for you and others to be able to read your writing.

In Maths, we have been thinking about time.  We would like you to play a game!  Ask your grown-up to help you tell what time it is.  Look at a clock or watch together.  Then choose a game of your choice, you may want to play with your lego, dinosaurs, dolls or run around in your garden.  After a little while, come back and ask your grown-up to tell you the time.  Look at the clock with your grown-up so that you can see how far the minute hand has moved.  How many minutes were you playing?  Did it feel like a long time?  Can you draw a picture of your chosen activity in your home learning book?  Then write underneath how many minutes you played this activity or game for.

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week.  How are you feeling today?  We may feel happy but sometimes we might feel anxious or sad.  It can help to share our feelings with others.  Please look at the PowerPoint attached with your grown-up.  Can you talk about the different types of feelings?

We have been learning about space recently.  Have you ever seen a film or TV programme about space?  You may have a favourite TV programme that is about a different topic.  You may like to watch cartoons or TV programmes about animals.  On Purple Mash, can you draw your favourite TV programme?  Before you start to draw, think about which colours you will need to use.  Why is this your favourite programme?  We look forward to seeing your pictures.

Thank you children for all your hard work this half-term, you should feel very proud of yourselves.  A big thank you to the grown-ups at home who are completing the daily activities with their children.  A gold star for the grown-ups!  Your efforts are much appreciated.

We hope you have a wonderful break.  Play, relax and enjoy this special time with your family.

The Acorn Class Blog will resume on Monday 1st June.
