Good Morning Acorns,
We hope you had a lovely weekend and you are ready to begin a new week of learning! Thank you for the wonderful colour exploration work you have completed on Purple Mash. The Acorn Class are extremely talented! The special collage that you created together has been saved on the main Acorn Class page. Thank you for your kindness.
Today we will be continuing with our space theme. Last week, you drew the planets in the solar system and you used your phonics to help read the planet names. Look at the planet PowerPoint again. See if you can quickly recognise the different planets. Afterwards, choose one planet to focus on. Can you describe the planet with good descriptive words? In your home learning book, draw a picture of your planet and then write the planet's name underneath, forming each letter correctly. Can you find out any facts about your chosen planet? Write one fact in your home learning book.
In Maths, we will be learning about the days of the week. Share the PowerPoint with your grown-up showing the days of the week. How many days are there in one week? See if you can use your phonics to help read each day, e.g. S…a….t…ur...d…ay. Grown-ups you can help your child by looking at the ‘ay’ sound. Words containing this sound, e.g. may, say, hay, play etc. Afterwards, see if you can write the days of the week in your home learning book. Remember to form each letter carefully.
It is International Museum Day today. Have you been to a museum? What did you see? Museums are fascinating and interesting places. In some museums they may have a collection of paintings by famous artists. There are lots of different artists you may have heard about. For example, Vincent Van Gogh, Michelangelo, Pablo Picasso etc.
We are going to think about one type of art called Impressionism. Impressionism art is a style in which the artist captures the image of an object as someone would see it if they just caught a glimpse of it. They paint the pictures with a lot of colour and most of their pictures are outdoor scenes. One famous impressionist artist is called Claude Monet. We are going to create an Acorn Class Museum and have a gallery of work! Can you be an impressionist? Please create a painting on Purple Mash. When you go into the paint section, please select the impressionism task. You can paint anything you would like to, it is completely up to you. We look forward to viewing your paintings in the gallery!
It is important to regularly practise your handwriting, to be able to form letters correctly. We would like you to practise your cursive handwriting. Please write the letters of the alphabet in your home learning book. If you feel you can form letters correctly, then you may want to focus on the size of your letters. Please refer to the cursive handwriting sheets you have been given previously. There are example sheets attached for you to refer to.
We hope you have a great day. You are all working so hard at home so keep up the good work! We are very proud of you.
