Acorn Daily Planner - Friday 15th May 2020

Friday 15th May 2020

Good Morning Acorns,

It has been lovely to see the Mosques you have created on Purple Mash. A variety of styles and colours have been used. Well done Acorns!

Today in Literacy, we will be practising our reading with a space theme! First, practise reading simple keywords. The flashcards have been attached. Please don’t worry, you do not need to do all the words at once. You can always come back and finish this task later in the day. Please read the sentences attached. You will need to use your phonics to help read each word. Remember to look at the letter sounds carefully.

In Maths today, we would like you to play a game involving numbers up to 10. We will be adding together 2 numbers to make 10. You will need to put your hands behind your back. Then show any number of fingers to your grown-up. Then your grown-up shows on their fingers the number needed to make ten. For example, if you show 7 fingers, your grown-up will need to show 3 fingers because 7 + 3 = 10. Repeat as many times as you can. After a while, swap roles. Have lots of fun with this activity!

Today is International Day of Families. We all love our family.  Who is in your family? Draw a large heart. Then draw a picture of your family inside the heart.  When you are drawing your family, please make sure you think carefully about what you need to include, e.g. eyes, mouth, nose, ears etc.

Afterwards, we would like you to explore different colours on Purple Mash. In creative activities, we can use a range of colours and we sometimes mix colours. Which colours do you recognise? Which is your favourite colour? Why is it your favourite colour? See if you can create a painting to show all the different colours you know.

We hope you have a wonderful day. Keep smiling!
