Acorn Daily Planner - 27.04.20

Monday 27th April 2020

Good Morning Acorns,

We hope you’ve had a good weekend with your family.  It has been great to see the amazing robots and dolls you have designed.  The Acorn Class are very creative!  We have some exciting new activities for you this week.

In Literacy we will be continuing with our space theme! You will be sharing a story with your grown-up called Whatever Next by Jill Murphy. This is the link you will need: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6c5cb0u0rPM

Once you have listened to the story, we would like you to discuss what happens in the story. Did you enjoy the story? Why? Would you travel to the moon like Baby Bear or would you travel somewhere different? We would like you to use your imagination and draw a picture of your chosen destination.  You may want to travel to a planet, such as Saturn or Mars. You might want to travel to a hot place, like the desert or have an adventure in the amazon jungle. Please talk to your grown-up and discuss your ideas. You can always invite your grown-up on your adventure!  Please complete this work in your home learning book.

In Maths, we will be learning about shapes this week. We want you to be able to recognise and name 3D shapes. Then begin to identify the properties of common 3D shapes. Please share the PowerPoint attached with your grown-up and talk about the different shapes. Can you go on a shape hunt around your home? You could always do this during your daily walk? Which shapes do you notice? Can you describe the shapes? Afterwards, you may want to draw in your home learning book the different shapes you have observed.

Today we would like you to reflect on this week’s story in Literacy. Who is the main character? Yes, Baby Bear is the main character. On Purplemash, can you design your own Baby Bear? What will your bear look like? You may want to invent a new name. Can you describe the bear to your grown-up? Try and use good descriptive words. We think you will like this activity!

For your second topic activity, we would like you to imagine you are having a music lesson at home with Dr Shore. It is time to practise your singing! Twinkle Twinkle is a popular song. Please practise singing this song with your grown-up at home. Do you know any other songs with a space theme? Please see the song lyrics attached for you to use at home.

We hope you have a fun day.
