Acorn Daily Planner - 02.04.20

Thursday 2nd April 2020

Good Morning Acorns,

We can see lots of you have enjoyed completing the computer challenge and giving the Bee directions!  Keep up the good work.

In Literacy we have been blending letter sounds together to read simple words.  Today, we would like you to reflect on the importance of reading.  Why do we need to read?  Reading is a life skill.  Discuss with your grown-up the variety of things you can already read.  In your home learning book, cut out different examples of things we need to read in everyday situations.  For example, books, magazines, comics, recipes, birthday cards, menus, instructions, newspapers etc.   You may cut out a newspaper article and stick it into your home learning book or it could be a recent birthday card.  You might have a travel brochure at home and you could cut out information and stick it into your home learning book.

In Maths, we have been thinking about 2D shapes.  Share the Repeating Patterns PowerPoint with your grown-up and discuss.  Can you make a repeating pattern with 2D shapes?  Draw a pattern in your home learning book.  This pattern should include two different shapes.  Afterwards, see if you can create a repeating pattern by using three different shapes.

The first topic activity is all about feelings.  Throughout the day, we can experience different types of feelings.  Talk to your grown-up about how you are feeling today.  Think about times when you feel happy.  When have you felt sad?  Has there been a time when you have felt worried?  On Purplemash, please complete the Feelings activity.  Can you show different types of feelings?

Recently, we have been thinking about Grizzly Bears.  In this second activity we would like you to become a designer!  See if you can decorate the bear on Purplemash.  We will look forward to seeing your bear creations.

We hope you have a great day.
