Reading is such a joy once you find a book that you really love – the world of reading and the world of books opens up so many possibilities. Here’s an example of someone who had a very tough upbringing but found the world of books – What a world! I visited Asia and Africa. I saw magnificent sunsets: I tasted exotic foods. I fell in love and danced in wonderful halls. I ran away with escaped slaves and stood beside a teenage martyred saint. I visited lakes and streams and composed lines of verse all without leaving my bedroom. Try and read as often as you can, lots of different types of books.

I hope you enjoy today, but continue your fantastic focus and then you can relax over the weekend (By the way - Audible have made all of their children’s audiobooks free while schools are closed. See if you can discover a new book to listen to -  https://stories.audible.com/start-listen). Today’s topics are reading skills – understanding inference; maths – a multiplication quiz and a little Times Tables Rock Stars; Art – take your time on this one but the end result is ace! and French – another chance to show off your linguistic ability – Have fun!

Great job to all of you yesterday, not easy getting back into the swing of things but you did it! I can see through Active Learn that lots of you were able to have a go at the maths games, well done! Before you start on today’s work, take a look at the answers to the English and maths quizzes from yesterday (see the worksheet attached to our blog) – how did you get on? We’re going to be moving onto new topics from next week in several subjects, all based around the topic of Journeys (e.g. Science – the journey of a plants life; History – Railways; Geography – the UK) but this week I just wanted to re-cap on a few things and ease in gently. So, today I’d like you to focus on English – direct speech, maths – addition and subtraction, RE – linked to yesterday’s scripture and science – understanding a fair test (tomorrow have a go at doing the investigation).
