Acorn Daily Planner - 27.03.20

Friday 27th March 2020

Good morning Acorns,

We hope you enjoyed reading about the Grizzly Bears yesterday.  If you were able to read some keywords, then you are fanatastic!  Well done to everybody who tried their best to read the sentences.

We have set you some new challenges today.  In Literacy, we would like you to practise reading different captions.  There is a PowerPoint attached below.  Please use your phonics to help read new words.  If you want to be a busy bee, try writing your own caption!  Draw a picture in your home learning book and write an accompanying caption.

In maths, we would like you to make your own little counting book.  You will need to fold some paper to create a book.  Alternatively, you could use some pages in your home learning book.  You can decide if you would like to focus on numbers 1-10 or 11-20.  On each page write the number clearly at the top of the page and then draw the correct amount of objects to match the number.  For example, if you write number 5, you could draw 5 fish on the page or 5 flowers.  This is your counting book and you can draw whatever you would like to but you must remember to count carefully!  Please form your numbers correctly.  Your book will need a front cover, so think about what you would like to put on the front cover.  You will need a title and your name as you are the author!

For your first topic activity, it is time to get creative.  Lots of people have been drawing rainbows to make others feel happy.  This is to help people stay positive during the Coronavirus.  Can you create your own rainbow on Purplemash?  We are looking forward to seeing your rainbows!

The second activity is all about adult and baby animals.  Please share the PowerPoint with your grown-up and discuss.  Which animal is your favourite?  Do you know any facts about this animal?  Can you draw the adult and baby animal in your home learning book?  Can you use your phonics to help label the pictures?

A big thank you to all of the children for your hard work.  It has been a busy week of learning at home.  We hope you have enjoyed it.  Please remember to say thank you to your wonderful grown-ups who have supported you throughout the week.

We hope you have a great weekend.
