Acorn Daily Planner - 24.06.20

Wednesday 24th June 2020

Good Morning Acorns,

We hope you are enjoying the sunshine and you are having fun completing the daily challenges. Today we have some new activities for you to complete at home.

Today we will be continuing to talk about sea turtles. Watch the video about sea turtles. This is the link you will need: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFDBtVupyqY   Sea turtles can sometimes get hurt in the sea. Share the ‘Pollution’ PowerPoint with your grown-up and discuss. Can you talk about what you have learnt?

Draw a picture of a sea turtle. Can you write a sentence about why plastic bags can be harmful to sea turtles? Write your sentence in your home learning book. Remember to write a ‘golden sentence’. Please include a capital letter, finger spaces and a full stop at the end of your sentence.

We would like you to practise blending letter sounds together to read simple words. Please play the ‘Obb and Bob’ game at home. This is the link you will need:https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/resources/phase/2/picnic-on-pluto

In Maths, we have been counting up to 100. Examine the hundred square with your grown-up. We will count to 100 using whisper counting. Remember we whisper the odd numbers and then say the even numbers. Whisper count to 100 and point at each number as you count. Then ask your grown-up to point at random numbers on the 100-square and ask you to point your pointing fingers up if it is odd and down if it is even. Remember that if the number ends in 1, 3, 5, 7 or 9 it is odd, and if it ends in 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8 it is even, so the 2s numbers are even.

Afterwards, look at the hundred square sheet together. Your grown-up will need to say a number and you must find the number on the hundred square and decide if it is odd or even. Then on the sheet, colour in the number. You will need to use two colours, one colour for odd numbers and one colour for even numbers. A hundred square has been attached. You may prefer to create your own hundred square at home and then colour in the numbers as required.

Now we are going to find out a little more about recycling. On Purple Mash, watch the videos about recycling and then see if you can recycle the different objects.

In our Literacy lesson, we thought about how pollution can make sea turtles ill. Think about how we can help the sea turtles. Can you design a poster to encourage people to stop polluting the seas? You might want to write a short sentence on your poster, such as ‘Do not put plastic bottles into the sea’ or ‘Do not drop your litter’. Think about what the illustrations on the poster might look like.

Yesterday we thought about how to stay safe around water. There are other situations where it is important to stay safe. Share the Road Safety PowerPoint with your grown-up. Talk about how you can stay safe.

Thank you for your continued hard work, we are really proud of you!

We hope you have a great day. Keep smiling!

Mrs Sanford and Miss Williamson
