Good Morning Acorns,

It has been lovely to see the flowers you have created. We are sure that Florence Nightingale would have been really happy and appreciative of your gifts! Today we have some new activities for you to complete at home.

Today in Literacy, we will be continuing with our space topic.  Now we would like you to become a space detective!  See if you can find out any information about the different planets.  There are some space photos and planet facts attached for you to look at with your grown-up.  Talk about the different planets.  Try and use your phonics to help sound out the name of each planet so that you can begin to recognise them. Each planet orbits the Sun, and some of the planets are closer to the Sun than others. The ones that are very close, like Mercury, are very hot. The ones that are far away, like Neptune, are very cold. Can you draw the planets in our solar system? When you colour each planet, make sure you do this neatly. Can you write the name of each planet? Please do this in your home learning book.

Yesterday, we practised counting in 2s. Today, we would like you to practise counting in tens. We are going to be really good at clever counting in 10s. Please look at the hundred square attached with your grown-up. Examine the right- hand side of the square, e.g. 10, 20, 30, 40 etc. What do you notice about these numbers? They all end in 0. Practise counting on in 10s. If you want to be a super-star, you could practise writing these numbers in your home learning book.

We have been learning about people who help us in the community. Please share the PowerPoint attached with your grown-up. Talk about the different job roles. Draw a picture showing one type of job, e.g. paramedic or vet. Please ask your grown-up to annotate your picture to show what you have discussed.

People who help us in the community need to travel to work. They may use different types of transport. For example, they may drive to work or get the train. Some people get the bus to work. Some of you travel to school by bus. The bus drivers are Keyworkers who are helping everyone get to their chosen destination. A big thank you to the wonderful bus drivers!  On Purple Mash, we would like you to design and create your own bus. What will your bus look like? Which colours will you use? Where will it travel to?

We hope you enjoy today's activities.  Please remember to be polite and respectful to your grown-ups who are helping you at home.
