Good Morning Acorns,

Thank you for your amazing patterns, it has been interesting to see the variety of textures you have used. Well done to all of the children who have been completing the daily challenges! It is a new day and we have some exciting activities for you to do.

In Literacy, we would like you to continue thinking about the moon. With the help of your grown-up, see if you can find out a few other facts about the moon. Please share the PowerPoint attached with your grown-up and talk about the facts. If you have any information books about Space at home, you may want to see if you can find out any facts about the moon.  Afterwards, draw a picture of the moon and write one fact about the moon in your home learning book. Remember to use your phonics to help spell new words. It is important to write a golden sentence. You must include a capital letter, finger spaces and a full stop. 

In Maths today, you will be warming your maths brain up with a flash card activity.  You will need number cards from 0-20 or you can use the number cards that you made in yesterday's activity.  Ask your grown-up to show you a number and you must say the number as quickly as you can! Then your grown-up will repeat this task with other numbers. 

Next, we will be practising counting back from 20 to 0.  As we continue with our Space theme, your first task is to draw a rocket on a piece of paper. Afterwards, you will be launching your rocket into Space and counting down from 20, then blast off. Afterwards, think of a planet that you would like to travel to in your rocket. What type of mission are you going on? See if you can use real planet names. Repeat counting down from 20 and blasting off. It is important to be able to form numbers correctly. Can you practise writing numbers from 20-0 in your home learning book?

Now you are going to become an artist! A little while ago, each child in the Acorn Class did a self-portrait. Can you draw a portrait of somebody in your home? This could be your grown-up or a brother or sister. You can use pencils, pens or pastels, depending on the resources you have at home. If you want to be creative and use paint, this is great too. This can be done in your home learning book. If you would prefer to draw the portrait on a piece of paper and then stick it into your home learning book, this is fine.

On Purplemash, you have a computing game with a maths twist! Can you work out the sequences to grow the snake? Which numbers do you recognise? We hope you enjoy this activity.
