English -  Jim and the Beanstalk

Yesterday you wrote the beginning of your story. Today we need to begin the middle. The middle part of a story can have quite a few events. We do not want to have the same events as Jim did in his story. We want to make up some of our own. You need to think of different things that the giant might need. What else might an older person need? Walking stick, hearing aids? Have a think. Who would make these for them? Now write the next event in the story but using the things you have thought about. Use these questions to help.

How did you get into the castle? Who did you meet? What did you do when you got in? What did the giant need? What did you say you could get? How did you describe it? What was his answer? What did he give you? What did you show your mother? Who made it for you? When did you collect it? How did you take it back to the Giant? What did he say? Was he happy?

*Remember to try and use speech marks to show what each character is saying.

Sentences must begin with a capital letter and end with a full stop.

RE – Moses

Many years after Abraham, the Jewish people went to live in Egypt because there had been a famine in their own country and there was work and food in Egypt. At first everything was all right. The Jewish people settled down and were happy, there were lots of them, just as God had promised Abraham.

Then there was a new Pharaoh in Egypt who did not like the Jewish people and he made them into slaves. They had to work very hard building pyramids for Pharaoh. They were often beaten and even killed. God wanted his people to be free so he chose a leader, Moses. At first Moses told God he didn’t want to be a leader because he was useless at speaking and he didn’t think he could do it. God told him not to worry that he would help him. So after some difficulty Moses led the Jews out of Egypt towards their own promised land. Moses was a great leader, a person who is very important for Jewish people.
