English   I want My Hat Back

Read the story using the PowerPoint. Stop at the page where the Bear is still lying on his back and the deer asks, ‘What’s the matter?’ Look at the three little dots at the end of the page. They are called ellipses. The three dots mean that the bear has stopped speaking in the middle of his sentence. Why do you think this might be? Tell your grown-up. Look at the next page. The author has used capital letters and the colour red. Why do you think he used red? Why are the words in capital letters? Tell your grown-up. How do you think the Bear is feeling right now?

Good job, I’m sure you knew that the colour red and the capital letters show that bear is angry and feeling cross.

Read the story to the page where the rabbit and bear come face to face. What might each be thinking? Now download the worksheet and put in what you think each character is thinking, using the speech bubbles.

Topic Work  Wild Plants

Go through the PowerPoint to look at other wild plants, you may know some of them. Talk about each plant with your grown-up. Now do the worksheet. Cut out and paste each picture into your book. Use the word bank to write the correct name under each one. Which of these plants shouldn’t you touch? Write the name of the plant and why you should not touch it. There is a plant that can help you if you do touch this plant. It normally grows close by. Which one is it? Ask your grown-up if you don’t know the answer. Write down its name in your book. Do you have any of these plants in your garden? If your answer is yes write down the names of the plants you have. You might have to go outdoors with your book to check which ones are growing in your garden. Can you identify one other plant not in your book? Draw it and write its name.

RE Being Sorry

When we do something wrong and make the wrong choices we need to say sorry. Watch

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_MSE1ipwmU&list=PLa3X6WEQdlfdPoYCTa2yrfM2_xDgwmPiV&index=2

When we say sorry we must mean it too. Levi and Zacchaeus said sorry and changed. Jesus forgave them. We must forgive others too. Look at the picture. Answer these questions –tell your grown-up your answers.

•             What are the children thinking about?

•             Who is thinking about a happy time and who is thinking of a wrong choice?

•             Who should the children say sorry to? (Look at the picture for clues.)

•             Why is bedtime a good time to think about what has happened during the day?

•             What do you think we should say to God about the happy times we have had?

•             What should we say about the unhappy times?

Can you think of a prayer the children might say? Write it in your book.
