Welcome back Year 2 to the second half of the summer term,

I hope you all had a lovely half term and managed to enjoy the beautiful weather whilst staying safe by socially distancing! It’s difficult not being able to meet up with all our friends and family all at once at the moment, and when we do see 1 friend at a time it’s difficult to remember to stay 2 metres apart, but if we follow the rules then hopefully things will get back to normal a lot quicker and everyone will stay safe. Find out how Hedgehog and Tortoise manage to show each other they care, whilst they stay apart, in our story today.

    Good morning children,

I'm really missing hearing you all chatting away to me in the morning, telling me about everything you've been doing. Perhaps you could write a letter to me and get your grown up to post it to school to let me know what you've been doing? I'd love to hear how your seeds are growing, what birds you've spotted out of your windows and what you've enjoyed doing at home with your grown ups.

Sorry to hear that the link to the story e-book didn’t work properly for some of you yesterday, I will check this out during the next few days and see whether it can be resent.

    Good morning Year 2,

I hope you are all still staying home and keeping safe. The other day Ms Dhana asked Year 1 to follow a link to the RSPB to listen to the birds singing and see whether they could identify which birds visited their gardens or outside their homes. Well I followed the link and discovered that I had several different varieties of birds visiting my garden. I have also been very lucky this year as a pair of Robins chose my garden to build a nest in, and I now have a whole family of robins hopping around when I’m outside gardening. Why don’t you give it a go and see how many types of birds you have heard?

    Good morning Year 2,

Apologies for the missing Spelling poster attachment yesterday, please see below for this weeks spellings to learn. Also, don’t forget to carry on practicing all 64 of the Year 2 common exception words (reading and spelling) as by the end of Year 2 you hopefully will be able to get 64/64.

    Good morning Year 2,

I hope you had a nice bank holiday weekend and did something nice to celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE Day.

Once again please feel free to make the necessary adjustments yourself to any of the activities to help your child work independently or with more support if needed. Remember the Twinkl website has been made free to parents and carers during the Lockdown https://www.twinkl.co.uk/ so is great to search for alternative and additional resources.
