Good morning Year 2. How was your first day back to (Home) school? It takes a little while to get back to routine, but I'm sure you'll soon be back in the swing of things. Keep on doing some exercise everyday, maybe you join in with Joe Wickes or perhaps you do some Just Dance, go for a daily walk with your grown up or do something else that keeps you fit? What ever you choose to do, smile and enjoy it!

Maths

Print out and complete the second sheet attached OR copy each in your Home Learning Book. Try to work independently today without your grown ups help.

If you are a speedy worker, you can challenge yourself with the third sheet.

English

Use the * story prompt attached to plan a story. Look carefully at the picture. Who will be in your story? Where is the story set? What title will you give your story?

Can you use your plan to write the story? How do we make our writing really good? Can you include different punctuation? How many adjectives can you use? Are you spelling all the Year 2 common exception words correctly in your own writing?

When you’ve finished writing your story, can you read it out loud to your grown up. What do they think? Ask them what their favourite part was.

Reading

Read* ‘I do like to be beside the seaside’ and answer the questions.

Don’t forget to underline the answers first when you find them hidden in the text.

Science

We are still thinking about healthy eating.

Can you remember all the different food groups?

Have a look at the Healthy Living page on our website and the Eatwell plate.

In your Home Learning Book draw a picture of your favourite meal and label it. How could you make it even healthier? What could you add to your plate or have for dessert that would make sure you were choosing from all the different food groups?

If you prefer, perhaps you could choose one of the recipes from our healthy living page and follow the recipe with your grown up. Take some photos and stick them in your Home Learning Book.
