Home Learning Blog – Tuesday, 12th May

A most splendid morning to you all! Welcome back. Before we begin, I would just like to say a huge ‘Thank You’ to each and every one of you following along, and getting on with your daily learning activities. I know it must be difficult to follow along with the activities sometimes, and you’re probably missing your friends and family.  By keeping up with the blog daily, you’re doing the best thing possible to ensure that your learning continues to progress during this extended school closure.

With that said, here are your learning activities for the day:

English

LO: Identifying the setting and context of a story

  • In this lesson, you will be looking at identifying the setting and context of a story
    • Setting: Where and when a story takes place
    • Context: The situation in which the story is set.
      • Example: A story setting might be a jungle, and the context might be an adventure to find an ancient artefact.
  • Follow the link, watch the videos, and complete the activities in your home learning book.

Maths

LO: Short multiplication

  • Look at the document uploaded at the bottom of the blog page.
  • Read the learning reminders to remind yourself how to complete short multiplication
  • There is also a Powerpoint presentation that can help guide you through the steps if you require it.
  • Complete the tasks in your home learning book.
  • Remember, some people prefer using slightly different methods, and that’s fine. If you want to write your ‘carrying-over’ numbers above or below your working out, there’s nothing wrong with it. As long as you’re consistent and you understand, that’s what is most important.

Computing

LO: Algorithms and sequences

French

LO: Pets in French

  • Log onto ‘Busy Things’ and complete the assigned activity.
  • Be sure to practise saying the words out loud – listen to the voice speak them before having a go yourself.

That’s it for today! See you tomorrow :)

Fun fact of the day: The heart of a blue whale weighs about 180kg
