St Peter and St Paul's

St Peter and St Paul Catholic Primary Academy

Welcome back! I hope you all had a fun and safe Easter and are looking forward to the new term. For many of our subjects the topic will be based around Adventurers and Explorers. So get ready to learn about different parts of the world, from frozen expeditions in Antarctica to horseback adventures across the Mongolian Steppe.

You will learn what it took and takes to be an awesome adventurer!

Note for Parents - you may need to purchase these ingredients for your child to make Explorer Energy Bars on Thursday. If your child is allergic to nuts then substitute with dessicated coconut and do not use peanut butter.

1 heaping cup packed dates (pitted - means take the stones out)

1/4 cup syrup or honey

1/4 cup peanut butter

1 cup roasted unsalted almonds (loosely chopped // see instructions for roasting nuts)

1 1/2 cups rolled oats (gluten-free for GF eaters)

Chocolate chips, dried fruit, nuts, banana chips, vanilla, etc

Spelling: See below for the new spellings of the week and write each word 5 times in your handwriting books.

1. Read ‘The Princess and the Pea’ by Hans Christian Anderson

• Read the story in your head and the practise reading it out loud. Can you read with good expression?

2. Answer Princess and the Pea Questions

• Read the ten Princess and the Pea Questions and then write a sentence answer for each one.

3. Make a storyboard

• Use the Storyboard to make a version of the story in six parts. Use a mixture of words and drawings to tell the story.

Maths: The maths for this week is quite vast. All I ask is you to do as much as you can in 45 min to an hour.

The topic for today is: Decimals on number lines

Open the file below to access resources

Foundation 1 Geography: Many of you would have heard of Christopher Columbus. He was a famous explorer who explored and discovered much of the Carribean. Find out more about the Carribean area and the countries that are there.

Foundation 2 Languages: Christopher Columbus sailed for the Spanish Empire. Much of the Americas, including the Carribean, speak Spanish. Learn the basics today using the link below.

After completing the activity, you could draw a poster to keep in your room, reminding you of the numbers.
