Good Morning Acorns,

In Literacy we will be listening carefully to a story and practising our comprehension skills.  First we would like you to share a story with your grown-up called the ‘Storm Whale’.  This is the link you will need: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zT9LnMQiplc  Can you explain what this story is about?  Where do whales live?  How did the little boy help the whale?  We would like you to think about retelling the story.  Talk to your grown-up about what happened first in the story, in the middle of the story and at the end.  Draw three different stages of the story in your home learning book.  If you can write ‘Beginning’, ‘Middle’ and ‘End’ to label your pictures this would be helpful.  We have attached a 'story map' as an example.

Take a look at this fascinating video about real whales.  This is the link you will need: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9qlhNU1ATE  Afterwards, share the ‘Whales’ PowerPoint together to find out new and interesting information about whales.

In Maths we have been learning to count and order numbers up to 20.  We would like you to play a fun game with your grown-up called ‘One more and One less’.  Look at the number cards that you created yesterday or use a set of number cards from a previous activity.  We have attached some number cards for you to use at home if you would prefer to use these instead.  Ask your grown-up to point to a random number.  Then you need to say the number that is one more than this number.  For example, if your grown-up points to number 6, then you will say 7 because the number 7 is one more than 6.  Now ask your grown-up to point to a different number and repeat the activity.  Afterwards, repeat the task with one less than a given number.

Let’s learn a new sound.  Today we will be learning the sound ‘ee’ and words containing this sound.  This is the link you will need for the video tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1uW4OtU7aU  Afterwards, see if you can write 5 different words containing this sound in your home learning book.  For example, you may choose to write the word ‘see’.

In Personal, Social and Emotional Development we have thought about different types of feelings.  Sometimes our actions can affect other people.  This can make them feel happy or sad.  Please share the following story with your grown-up called ‘The Selfish Crocodile’.  This is the link you will need: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-NhjfJ_RZI  What is the morale of the story?

We hope you have a wonderful weekend.  Thank you for your continued hard work at home.
