Bonjour!

Daily Learning Blog – Thursday, 23rd April

Welcome back,

Hopefully you found yesterday’s Oak National Academy lessons valuable and easy to follow. I’ll be using their lessons from time to time, depending on the sort of videos they release. Here are today’s learning tasks:

English:

LO: Using and understanding alliteration

  • Alliteration is several words in a row begin with the same letter
    • Ronnie ran rapidly
    • The big blue bear blew bubbles beautifully
  • Be careful though, as it can be possible to use too many in a row, which makes it difficult to read or say – like a tongue twister!
  • Follow the link, watch the videos, and complete the activities in your home learning book.

Maths:

LO: Adding and subtracting amounts of money

  • Complete the attached worksheet on adding and subtracting amounts of money
  • You may use column method – just remember to keep the columns lined up correctly, and to ensure that your place values are correct.
  • For the challenge, try to get as close to £10 as possible using as many toppings as you require.

Reading:

LO: Non-fiction reading comprehension questions

  • Open the uploaded document, and read the non-fiction report on rainforest deforestation.
  • Answer the comprehension questions in your home learning book.

Handwriting:

LO: Common exception word handwriting

  • I have attached a handwriting practice sheet to provide examples of good handwriting.
  • Please choose any 8 words (maybe words you find a bit tricky to spell) and fill up a full line for each word in your home learning book.
  • Please use appropriate handwriting style, and accurate spelling

That’s all for today! See you tomorrow :)

Fun fact of the day: The sentence: “Mr Owl ate my metal worm” is a palindrome – it can be read forwards or backwards.
