Maths

I’d like you to play shop again today. Will you sell anything different today – a book, cuddly toy, a game, pens. Then you need to decide how much you want to sell each item. Today, your customer has £10 to spend at your shop. You will need to work out how much your customer has spent by adding together the cost of their items (you could use the expanded column method from last week) and also work out the change you will need to give them from the £10 (you could use the counting up frog for this). Maybe try 3 different combinations with your customer, or have a special offer in your shop (buy one get one half price). I have also added an extension task about time if you are up for a challenge!

Reading comprehension

Read the poem ‘Bed in Summer’ and then answer the questions I have set about it in your home learning book. Make notes as you read or underline key words if you print it out to help you answer them.

Handwriting and spelling

First, I’d like you to write a line (at least three times per line) of these words from our common exception list: believe; experience; favourite; suppose; pressure and peculiar in your handwriting book (remember to use your fantastic cursive writing and a finger space between each word). Then, rather than a spelling test, I would like you to create 6 sentences (use one word per sentence) using the same words - believe; experience; favourite; suppose; pressure and peculiar. You might first need to find out what the word means and then try and make your sentences as interesting as possible.

Art

Today, I’d like you to have a go at shading a pencil drawing. Watch and follow the instructions on this shading tutorial Shading and copy what he does in your home learning book.
