Good Morning Acorns,

We have enjoyed looking at the different bears you have decorated on Purplemash.  Today we have some new activities for you to do at home.

In Literacy, we would like you to practise your keywords.  Please share the PowerPoint attached with your grown-up.  It is important for you to be able to read these words by sight.  If you practise these words regularly, they will become more familiar and when you see each word in a book, you will be able to read it by yourself!  We are all going to be fabulous readers.

In Maths, we would like you to practise your counting skills.  We will be continuing with our minibeast theme!  Please look at the Busy Bee Counting PowerPoint with your grown-up.  Your first challenge is to estimate how many bees you can see on each slide.  Remember an estimate, is a clever guess.  Look closely at the bees and then make an estimate.  How many bees do you think there are?  Then count the bees to see how many there are in total.  Were you correct? You may have made a good guess and your estimate was near the actual total.

We have a great topic activity for you to do on Purplemash.  We would like you to reflect on pet animals.  Do you have a pet?  If so, what type of animal do you have?  Do you know someone who has a pet?  Everyone has a pet in the Acorn class because we have Sally, our pet snail.  Can you select an animal and type a caption about that animal.  Remember, a caption is a short sentence to accompany a picture.  Please use your phonics to help spell new words.

Your second activity is about our RE topic.  During Lent, we think about new life.  For example, baby lambs being born in the Spring.  On Purplemash, can you paint your own little chick?  We will look forward to seeing your wonderful paintings.

The Easter holiday is nearly here!  You have worked very hard and we are so pleased with the commitment you have shown.  Well done for completing all of the challenges so far.  The EYFS Blog will begin again after the Easter holiday on Monday 20th April.  We do hope you have a lovely time with your family at home.

Best Wishes,

Mrs Sanford and Miss Williamson
