Acorn Daily Planner - 01.04.20

Wednesday 1st April 2020

Good Morning Acorns,

We have enjoyed looking at your delicious fruit salad pictures!  Today we have some new activities for you to do at home.

In Literacy, we would like you to complete the Word Challenge with your grown-up.  Please see the PowerPoint attached.  Make sure you blend the letter sounds together to read each word.  Then you will need to become a letter detective!  Can you work out the missing letter from each word?

In Maths, we would like you to explore maths in different situations.  Maths City 1 on Purplemash has videos and activities related to using maths in everyday life.  Can you complete the repeating pattern?  Can you predict which car will win the race?  Go onto Purplemash and see if you can use your amazing maths brain to complete the challenges.

The first topic activity is about an interesting festival called Divali.  See if you can research some information about the festival of Divali with your grown-up.  During Divali people draw bright Rangoli patterns.  They can come in many different shapes and sizes.  Yesterday in Maths, we thought about 2D shapes in the environment.  We would like you to share the Rangoli PowerPoint with your grown-up.  Can you see different shapes in the Rangoli patterns?  Afterwards, if you would like to create your own Rangoli pattern in your home learning book that would be great!

Then you have a fun computing activity on Purplemash called 2Go.  Can you give the bee directions to the flowers?  You will be able to practise giving simple instructions and directions.

We hope you have a wonderful day.
